There are currently more than 2 million female veterans and more than 230,000 women serving in the active-duty force, and these numbers are expected to grow every year.^1,2 A recent survey of the female active-duty population examined whether they were satisfied with the care they have received from the MHS.³ Among many remaining gaps in care, nearly a third found it difficult to make an appointment with an OB/GYN, while some experienced difficulty obtaining their preferred form of birth control.
