Basic radiation techniques for prostate cancer are changing and shortening treatment courses, especially when combined with surgery, according to Arthur Hung, MD, of the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
“Because of our evolution in how we deliver radiation—how we have gotten better—we can actually deliver radiation in a shorter time course,” Hung said. “Ten or 15 years ago there was a lot of discussion of if a patient should have radiation or surgery. Now we are finding that you should be doing both.”
