In an interview with ACC's President Ralph Brindis, he said that at this year's scientific sessions meeting more emphasis is being placed on helping interventional cardiologists keep up with general cardiology. As the population ages, patients have to be evaluated as a whole before procedures are initiated. Models of care are shifting from the traditional focus on quantity to focusing more on quality and outcomes. And with this shift, we need to learn how to evaluate quality and appropriateness of care.
