Brought to you by the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. In this video, the authors highlight the steps necessary for safe and efficient laparoscopic colpotomy. These include creating anatomic zones of safety by exposing landmarks during initial dissection, correct uterine positioning, and placement of an appropriately sized colpotomy ring. The authors review key components of electrosurgical energy use to minimize thermal injury and achieve desired tissue effects. In addition, they describe troubleshooting commonly encountered problems, such as loss of pneumoperitoneum and inability to place a colpotomy ring.
