Study Confirms Device’s Ability to Lift Anxiety, Depression, Pain

Key clinical point: A cranial electrotherapy stimulation device improves anxiety, mood, sleep, and pain in a cohort of otherwise healthy teachers without the use of medication.

Major finding: The participants demonstrated significant improvements from baseline (P < 0.001) for measures of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and pain based on their reports of symptoms via a smartphone app.

Study details: The data come from a 6-week open-label study including 35 teachers in Texas who used a stimulation machine for 20-60 minutes daily.

Disclosures: The participants’ health screenings were provided by the Brazos Foundation, an independent charity in Mineral Wells, Tex., and the devices were provided at no charge by Electromedical Products International. The researchers disclosed no financial conflicts.
