Adding lymphopenia component ‘improves’ FLIPI

Key clinical point: Incorporating lymphopenia into the Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (FLIPI) can improve prognostication.

Major finding: Increasing FLIPI-L (FLIPI plus lymphopenia) was an independent predictor of transformation, both when assessed as a continuous variable (P less than .01) and stepwise for FLIPI-L scores of 3-5 (P = .004-.01). The original FLIPI was not an independent predictor of transformation.

Study details: A retrospective study of 736 patients with follicular lymphoma.

Disclosures: The authors reported having no conflicts of interest.
