Pesticide Exposure Linked to Treatment Failure in DLBCL

Key clinical point: Occupational exposure to pesticides may increase the risk for treatment failure in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

Major finding: Patients occupationally exposed to pesticides had significantly higher treatment failure rates versus nonexposed patients (22.4% vs. 11.3%; P = .03; adjusted odds ratio, 3.0, 95% CI, 1.3-6.9).

Study details: A retrospective analysis of 244 patients with DLBCL, 67 of whom had occupational exposures to pesticides.

Disclosures: The study was funded by the AOI GCS MERRI, the European Regional Development Fund, Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council, and SIRIC Montpellier Cancer. The authors reported relationships with Biogaran, Celgene, Gilead, Jansen, Novartis, Roche, and Sanofi.
