Review reveals shorter OS, RFS in young colorectal cancer patients

Key clinical point: Young colorectal cancer patients have inferior survival rates compared with their older counterparts.

Major finding: The 3-year overall survival rate was 42% in patients aged 10-25 years and 90% in patients older than 25 years (P less than .0001). The 3-year relapse-free survival rates were 32% and 78%, respectively (P less than .0001).

Study details: A retrospective review of 94 patients aged 10-25 years and 765 patients older than 25 years of age.
