Sleep apnea found to impact pain severity in younger adults

Key clinical point: Younger adults with an OSA diagnosis were more likely to report moderate to severe pain intensity, compared with their peers without an OSA diagnosis.

Major finding: On unadjusted analyses, the odds of young adults reporting moderate/severe pain was 48% higher among those with OSA, compared with those who did not have OSA (odds ratio, 1.48; P < .0001).

Study details: A cross-sectional analysis of 858,226 veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.
