Swedish registry study finds atopic dermatitis significantly associated with autoimmune diseases
Key clinical point: Atopic dermatitis was significantly associated with one or more autoimmune diseases in a case-control study drawing from the entire Swedish population aged 15 years and older from 1968 to 2016.
Major finding: The odds ratio for association between atopic dermatitis and autoimmune diseases as a group was 1.96 (95% confidence interval, 1.92-2.00).
Study details: The case control analysis matched 104,832 cases of atopic dermatitis with 1,022,435 controls from the general Swedish national health care registers.
