Meta-Analysis Eyes Impact of Adherence to HCQ Among SLE Patients

Key clinical point: There appears to be a good association between blood hydroxychloroquine levels and patient- or physician-reported hydroxychloroquine nonadherence in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Major finding: There was a threefold higher odds of reported nonadherence in patients with low hydroxychloroquine levels (odds ratio, 2.95; P less than 0.001).

Study details: A meta-analysis of 17 published trials that included 1,223 patients.

Disclosures: The researchers reported having no financial disclosures.
