Seasonal Incidence of Acute Gouty Arthritis

When do hospitalizations peak?

The peak incidence of acute gout seems to be in the fall with its peak in the month of November, according to a study of 28,172 patients aged ≥ 18 years who were hospitalized with primary diagnosis of acute gouty arthritis. Researchers found:

• Peak incidence of acute gout was seen in November.

• The highest number of hospitalizations was seen in autumn months and lowest incidence was seen in spring.
