This simple work-day fix helps patients with diabetes

Interrupting prolonged sitting with brief bouts of light-intensity activity throughout the workday—either walking or doing simple resistance activities for 3 minutes once every 30 minutes—resulted in an “impressive reduction” in blood pressure in overweight sedentary men and women with type 2 diabetes, according to Dr. Bronwyn Kingwell, who conducted the small study in Melbourne, Australia. In this interview at the American Heart Association's scientific sessions in November, Dr. Kingwell reports on the findings.
