MRI Staging T3 Prostate Cancer: Do Coils Matter?

Key clinical point: No significant difference was found in the diagnostic performance of MRI for staging T3 prostate cancer when using an endorectal coil versus a non-endorectal coil.

Major finding: There was no statistical difference between an endorectal coil or a body-array or pelvic phased-array coil in terms of sensitivity and specificity for T3.

Study details: PUBMED and EMBASE databases were searched to identify studies performing a head-to-head comparison of prostate MRI using a 1.5 or 3 T magnet with an endorectal coil or with a body-array or pelvic phased-array coil for staging T3 prostate cancer.

Disclosures: None reported.
