New case suggestive of in utero SARS-CoV-2 transmission

Key clinical point: A baby born to a mother diagnosed with COVID-19 developed evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection 2 days after birth, despite extreme caution taken during delivery and immediate separation of mother and baby.

Major finding: Virus was detected in cord blood, while a nasopharyngeal swab test was positive 2 days after birth and not before.

Study details: A single case report of a boy born at 34 weeks to a mother with COVID-19.
